Wedding photographer in Jacksonville

Jacksonville is built around water in three forms: the wide St. Johns River through the middle of the city, the Atlantic beaches to the east, and the marshes and islands to the north. Each gives a different wedding, and they are far enough apart that you choose one for the day.

As a wedding photographer and videographer in Jacksonville, we plan around that choice, and around a climate that is closer to the South than to South Florida.

On the river, the historic neighborhoods of Riverside, Avondale, and San Marco have old oaks, brick, and churches with real character. The Cummer Museum has formal gardens that run down to the water. Epping Forest, the former duPont estate, is a Mediterranean-style mansion with lawns on the river.

At the coast, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach are relaxed and wide. Ponte Vedra Beach, a little south, has the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and the clubhouse at TPC Sawgrass, both made for large weddings.

To the north, Amelia Island has oceanfront resorts and the small historic town of Fernandina Beach. To the south, St. Augustine is under an hour away, with the Lightner Museum, old stone streets, and courtyards that look like nowhere else in Florida. We cover all of them from the same trip.

Each of these places has its own rules about timing, access, and where a camera crew can stand. We ask about them before the wedding, not during it.

The Atlantic is to the east, so the sun rises over the ocean and sets inland. On the beach in the evening the light is soft and even, and the sky over the water turns pink after sunset, but the sun itself goes down behind the dunes. For the sun setting over water, the river and the marshes are the place. The St. Johns bends through the city, so some lawns face sunrise and others face sunset; we check your venue before suggesting a ceremony time.

Sunset is about 5:25 pm in December and about 8:30 pm in late June.

The seasons are more distinct here than further south. Spring and fall are the favorite months: warm days, cooler evenings, and clear air. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon storms from June through September. Winter is mild but can be cold after dark, which matters for an outdoor reception.

The beaches are windy on most days. We use microphones that handle it and suggest where to place the ceremony for clean sound.

We photograph and film Jacksonville weddings as one crew. That matters most in tight moments: a first look under the oaks, a ceremony on a riverfront lawn, a church aisle with guests close on both sides. Two separate teams would be in each other's frame. We decide in advance who stands where.

During the ceremony one camera stays wide and steady for the full record, while another follows faces: the look at the top of the aisle, a parent in the front row, hands during the rings. Vows and speeches are recorded with dedicated microphones, so your film has clear voices, not wind and room noise.

After the wedding, video packages with a teaser or trailer deliver it within two days, and photo collections include a preview within 48 hours. Our style is calm. We guide when it helps, mostly during portraits and family groups, and step back the rest of the time so the day looks the way it felt.
